Creatine Supplements
June 26, 2009
Creatine is naturally occurring organic acid in the human body, which is responsible in providing energy to muscle cells; an increase muscle mass, provides strength, and reduces the recovery time for exhausted muscles.
Creatine also plays an important role in enhancing the recognition memory, decreasing mental fatigue, and stimulating brain function.
The muscular strength is increased due to the increase in the amount of phosphate molecules known as ATP (adenosine tri-phosphate). The muscle size increases momentarily due to the addition of water in the muscle cells.
In the longer term, this increase in the muscle size is replaced with solid structures inside the cell. These creatine supplements introduce ATP energy cycle in the muscle cell. This energy cycle increases the cellular energy and causes muscular contractions.
Different types of formulations of the creatine supplements are available in the market. These formulations differ by rate of absorption and transportation, as well as by the quantity of necessary nutrients.
Different types of prevalent creatine supplements in the markets are as follows:
Creatine Ester, Creatine Citrate, Creatine Phosphate, Creatine Anhydrous, Liquid Creatine, Creatine Malate, Creatine Hmb, Creatine Gum, Creatine Tartrate, Creatine Titrate, Magnesium Creatine And Creatine Monohydrate
Research suggests that these creatine supplements may cause diarrhea.
Due to the water-dragging characteristic of creatine, dehydration may occur in hard training athletes and bodybuilders. Hence, they are advised to take adequate amount of water during workouts. The water intake must be increased by 16 ounces in such cases.
However, creatine supplements cannot be an alternative for nutritional practices. Creatine supplements can only act as a part of a proper diet. These supplements have proved to be of lesser value when taken with a poor diet. In addition, proper strength training plays an important role in body building exercises.
They stimulate the body to enable creatine supplements in producing and storing more ATP.
These supplements are an essential part of the bodybuilding program. They provide the desirable support for an athlete to reach optimum level of performance.
Though these supplements cannot be termed ‘miracle supplements’, however they form a secure, effective, and essential part of the bodybuilder’s supplement program.
