March 30, 2009
Cotton suits have come a long way now and more and more designers are showcasing them in their collections. Being a natural fiber as well as the great advances in the making of cotton, it has become a hot commodity today. Technology has taken cotton weaving to new heights which is why so may more people are willing to jump into them as they are so much more comfortable. High-end designers of the likes of Paul Smith, Giorgio Armani and Etro have been using cotton in new ways giving us a chance to use cotton suits more frequently.
So make a dash for it and get yourself a good cotton suit this summer. It will give you an added step this hot season. Cotton suits are a far better alternative then your summer weight wools. They can be easily incorporated into your wardrobe. You could easily pull off wearing a summer cotton suit with a nice t-shirt, or be more conventional and wear a regular shirt and tie. Cotton suits are for sure very dressy and smart. Add to them a nice pair of dress shoes and away you can go and paint the town red.
Today’s cotton suits are definitely far more sophisticated than their cousins of yesteryears. They are therefore better suited for evening-wear or even to office on regular basis. Since they are made from natural fibers, they are so much more comfortable as compared to other materials you would normally have worn. Lauren Deatherage from Cotton Incorporated says that cotton suitings are key trend setters this summer. Its all about personal; style and how you put a garment together.
Try the khaki colored twill suit with a brilliant polo. This would do perfect for a Sunday brunch. On the other hand try; a slim fit jacket, worn over a nice pair of jeans and a t-shirt. This will surely give you a downtown rock and roll look. Daniel Silver says cotton suits need not always be worn as one piece. He strongly advocates mixing it up for dramatic effect.
Today we renewed interest in cotton as it has come a long way in fabric technology brand like Penguin and Brooks Brothers (both mid-priced designers) have several smart suits out on offer. Banana Republic as well as Target have come out with ranges that suit just about every budget.
