Do I need to abstain from sex to be religious?

If you have interest in seeking a more spiritual life, there are many things to consider. You have probably wondered about giving up sex. Is this something that we need to do in order to find our higher purpose? Sexual intercourse is often a topic of taboo.
If you speak about sex in public you might get yourself in trouble. Of course we all know that sexual intercourse is necessary for life on earth. Every animal on this planet has sex and so do most people. It is confusing to think that something so important to life could possibly be frowned on by god.
Can humans be spiritual and sexual?
It is my firm belief that human beings are a sexual creature. It is one of our utmost desires. It is a desire that seems to compete with thoughts of food and yes, life itself.
The desire to have sex is one that guides men and women into action. It is a mystery then why people seem to be so scared of sex. While we seem afraid to truly embrace sexual intercourse in its natural pureness, we seem to be utterly infatuated with it at the same time.
Why do people have this “love/hate” relationship with sex?
There are many different beliefs about sex. The final decision is made by the individual. In our society we have the right to choose what to believe. This is the way that it should be.
If we are going to make a decision about sex, it is just that – our decision. It is not the decision of any faction, government party or religion. Until we have the ability to understand the human mind on a higher level we should simply accept sex for what it is to us – an exciting, pleasurable, loving and most importantly fun experience.
Sex is a thing of wonder and we should be interested in discovering those wonders. This is the only way that humankind will ever really understand.
Like all good things in life – sex should be had in moderation.
This is an easy enough theory but the reality becomes more complicated. Sexual intercourse is no longer a thing of love. It is considered a thing to be shared around.
It is often considered a thing of little importance. However, this attitude is not helpful in seeking true enlightenment. Yes, sex is something good to be shared with other people. However, you must understand every aspect of what you are doing in order to truly enjoy the process. Knowledge is power.

You need to know how great the risk is before you start, whether other means might give better protection, and how this much protection compares to the risks of circumcision itself.

Only some varieties of HPV put women at risk of cervical cancer, and the causation is only partial. Various studies have shown no greater incidence of cervical cancer in the wives of non-circumcised men.
The Nielson study was very marginal indeed, bordering on no statistical signficance at all.
The Baltimore study was not as clear as you say: Only a small sub-set of the men, those with known HIV exposure, showed the circumcision effect, but only 50 of those men were not circumcised, so the “22%” who contracted HIV was only 11 men. The study shows five of those men might not have contracted HIV if they had been circumcised – or if they had sex with other partners, or fewer partners, or used condoms more often, and so on. It is impossible to extract worthwhile statistical data from such small numbers. Meanwhile 2.5% of the vast majority of men, those who had no known HIV, risk did contract HIV, and among them, circumcision had no effect..
I agree. approaching is half the battle. It demonstrates confidence immediately, which all women find attractive.
