Your Wedding, Cinderella Style

The story of Cinderella is one that seems to resonate with many women, both during our childhood, and long after. This is so prevalent, that the Cinderella story is a very common theme for weddings, having been chosen early in life by the bride.
The story seems to encompass all the romance of fairytales and happy endings. A big part of the appeal is surely the beautiful ball gown that Cinderella’s fairy godmother bestowed on her. It’s the first truly spectacular dress most of us see, and it acts as the model for all gowns thereafter.
The gown
In spite of the huge variety of wedding gowns on the market today, the Cinderella, or Princess gown, remains a top seller. A bride is a princess for a day, and the groom her prince. The beauty and magnificence of a ball gown seems fitting for such an occasion. You can recognize the gown by a few common features: a full, sweeping skirt; a train; an off-the-shoulder design; an over-skirt pulled back to the sides; a tulle or chiffon ballerina skirt; a closely fitted bodice; and a lot of beadwork. This is a dress in which to waltz around a ballroom floor. This is the dress in which to attend a coronation. Think: Princess!
The accessories
Accessories play a huge role in a fairytale wedding. Once the gown is selected, it’s time to choose the jewelry. A sparkling crystal or rhinestone necklace and earrings will work well with most dresses. Most brides will choose a tiara for a princess look. You will want your jewelry and tiara to match, but don’t get too carried away with the glitter. This is a fairytale, not a cartoon. Slim, tennis style jewelry will look best if you intend to wear a tiara, necklace (or choker), earrings and bracelet. If you are wearing gloves, you won’t need to wear a bracelet.
Some brides choose ‘glass’ slippers to finish the look. These are clear, plastic shoes, and can be quite striking if you can find some of a high quality. If you can’t, choose crystal beaded shoes for a glass effect.
