Lately, it has become very popular. By using this technique one can remove the unwanted hair from the body for good.
Usually men wish to use it for the hair on the back and on the chest. For women it is applicable for facial hair such as eye brows, hair on the upper lips and on the cheeks etc.
But a recent study has shown that swimsuit models tend to use it to get rid of hair on the legs and hands as well. Thanks to the modern science, now we will not have to deal with good old waxing and plucking.
So how is this done? Before applying the laser beam, the place is shaved and then a cream is applied on the area. The cream is an anaesthetic one. Then the laser beam is applied on the skin.
It is a form of light that is highly concentrated. The function of the ray is to destroy the pigment that is found with in the follicles of the hair.
There are different kinds of laser beams and you need to know which one is more effective. The laser that produces infrared is known as YAG laser. This is not an ideal one as the skin can not absorb the laser properly.
Thus there is a possibility of skin damage. But that is only for people with a light skin tone. People who have a dark complexion can opt for this treatment.
The result of laser hair removal depends on the color of the skin and hair and also the amount of hair on the body. For example, if someone has fair skin and dark hair on the body, then after the treatment the person will have a very fair complexion.
And that person will have very little chance of having adverse side effects. People with brown hair will not get as good a result as black hair. And unfortunately people with blonde and white hair do not get much of a positive result.
