So you found your perfect bride or groom, have the ring, set the date, now what? Now is when all the flurry and excitement begins. Planning every detail from your wedding party to the dinner menu, planning your wedding is no doubt one of the most exciting times of your life. Ideally, the bride and groom will both have the same beliefs and cultural influences to help them decide on the type of wedding ceremony to have, but that is not always the case that is why it is important then when you start your plans for your wedding you should start early and discuss the different options for wedding ceremonies.
Wedding ceremonies are one of the first things you should be planning. Choosing what kind of ceremony you are going to have can be a big decision for most. For instance, some couples come from different heritages and cultures, different religions and have different belief systems when it comes to who they want to officiate their wedding ceremony.
What works for one couple, may not necessarily work for another couple. Ceremonies can be as unique as the bride and groom getting married. From a full two-hour mass Catholic ceremony, to going to the local courthouse, ceremonies come in all shapes and sizes. One of the first things you should do when beginning to plan your wedding ceremony is to sit down as a couple with the officiate of your choice and discuss and address any concerns or questions that you may have.
In some cases, the officiate will allow some flexibility in the ceremony and adjust to the couple’s need for different practices to be done during the ceremony. Getting everything out in the open and voicing any concerns up front can help you from being stuck in a ceremony that you are not comfortable with. Also, make sure that whatever you as a couple decide to go with for the ceremony, do not let others influence you. It seems everyone has an opinion on what is right, what is wrong and what should or should not take place during a ceremony, but the only thing you need to worry about is deciding what is right for you – the bride and the groom. It is your big day, and you should have the ceremony that fits both of your best.
