Ways to prevent your kid from using abusive words

It is very shocking for parents if they hear their children cursing. Instant reaction after you hear bad words from your kid’s mouth is nothing but irritation and anger; but you try to keep your cool as much as possible, so that your little one doesn’t understand that you are irritated. The reason behind this is that your irritated face might cause adverse effect on your child.
Small children usually have the tendency to follow the elders. If they hear any abusive words used by some elderly person, they try to follow them by using the same words. In most cases, the toddlers do not even understand the meaning of these foul words. However, you need to prevent your child from cursing.
Here are some suggestions, which you can follow to prevent your toddler from cursing:
• If you believe that some elderly person is using abusive words in front of your child, request him/her not to use such foul words anymore. Remember, it is necessary to discipline not only your kid, but also the adult person, who serves a great part in the cursing problem of your kid.
If you think that, your kid is learning the abusive words from television or any other media, then supervise what your kid listens or views and cleverly keep him/her stay away from that TV or other such media programs.
• Make your child understand the ill effects that the foul words can have on them. Lovingly tell them not to use the foul words anymore.
• Handle the cursing problem wisely with a cool brain, because your kid might fear you in case you scold him/her for using abusive words. Mind it, that a negative treatment from you cannot prevent him/her from using abusive words.
• Encouragement also constitutes a significant aspect in the cursing problem. If your kid behaves in the appropriate manner or cools down after sometime, wait for your kid to approach you.
You can also promise a reward to your child, if he/she promises not to utter abusing words anymore. This is the most ideal and interesting way to prevent your child from cursing.
