Vacationing in the Maldives Islands

One of the most famous vacation spots in the world is Maldives. The islands of Maldives are located in the Indian Ocean. There are about two hundred islands, eighty-eight of which have been designed to cater to tourists with accommodations and activities. The islands are right out of a story book with their beautiful, lush plant life, wild flowers and sand bars around the island.
The capital of the Maldives Islands is Male. The city of Male has the greatest population of all of the islands and is the center district for commerce. Male is home to one of the island’s biggest attractions, the Grand Friday mosque which is also referred to as Masjid-al-Sultan Mohammed Thakurufaanu-al-A “z” zam. This is the largest mosque in the Maldives Islands. Also located in Male is the National Museum which exhibits relics from the past.
The Mulee Aage Palace was built in the early Twentieth Century by Sultan Mohamed Shamsuddeen III for his son. Today the palace is where the President works. The palace was designed with elaborate carvings. It is a must see for art lovers. Visitors that are interested in the arts should also visit the Esjehi Art Gallery which features traditional and modern artwork created by residents of Maldives.
The capital city of Male does not have a beach so an Artificial Beach was designed as a place for young people to get together. Though Male does not have a beach, the other cities of Maldives are covered with miles of beaches. These beaches are the reason that tourists come back year after year. One of the top beaches is Nalaguraidhoo Beach in South Ari Atoll. For those who enjoy water activities, the Maldives are perfect. Visitors of the beaches can spend their days sleeping on the sands or actively participating in activities such as scuba diving, windsurfing, parasailing, or fishing.
Maldives caters to its tourist industry with a wide array of hotels and resorts from bargain prices to all-out luxury.
The Maldives Islands are easily accessible by air from most major countries. You can reach the islands by boat from India and Sri Lanka.
