Treat Your Cracked Heels

Cracked heels are considered an aesthetic nuisance, but they can also be a painful condition. Heels may crack due to dry weather and sometimes, if your job involves spending long periods of time in cold water, cracking can appear in your heels. These are obvious by the deep cracks and fissures that you will notice on the heels. Sometimes the cracked heels can be painful, and often they tend to bleed. If untreated, they can get infected and may lead to complications. During dry weather, especially in the winter season, you will notice your feet cracking. Obese people, because of the pressure they put on their feet, are more likely to have cracked heels than the rest of the population.

avoid the gels or creams

When the cracked heels start to hurt or bleed, protect them from infection. There are a number of over-the-counter topical applications available at the pharmacy but avoid the gels or creams because they are not safe. Although your cracked heels may heal fast with these topical applications, there is also the possibility that their condition may worsen because of your reaction to the chemical components. It is therefore recommended that you adopt some natural remedies from your kitchen to treat your cracked heels.

coconut oil

The suggested treatment for this condition is to apply oil on the affected area. Coconut oil has been found to be a good moisturizer and the dry heels can breathe with this oil. Before going to bed, apply coconut oil on your heels and put on socks. You will find your feet well moisturized in the morning and the cracking will also steadily disappear. Continue with the treatment until the cracking is completely gone.

lemon juice

You can try holding a piece of ripe banana on your heels for about 10 minutes at a time. Rinse off with warm water. This will ease the pain from cracked heels.Soak your feet in lemon juice for about10 minutes once a week. While soothing your heels, the lemon juice will also help get rid of the cracks. A topical application of rosewater and glycerin mixed together can heal cracked heels as it soothes them.
