Travelling with pets at times does become a nuisance, but not always. There can be pleasant trips with pets, especially cats if planned properly and well in advance.
The trip has to be planned well in advance, since if tour travel is a long duration and you are planning to halt at hotels in between, lot of things must be planned. There are hotels that do allow pets but there are many of them who do not entertain pets. So it is very essential to find out the exact location for your halt if you are travelling with your cat.
It is always recommended that the shots are given to the cat before travelling. The veterinary doctor can be asked to give a mild tranquilizer to your cat so that she does not become hype active or nervous during the travel. It is always advisable to carry the health Certificate and the vaccination proofs since they may be of great importance at some travel places or else you may end up losing your pet for no reason though he is pretty hale and healthy.
It is better to plan a rehearsal tip well in advance before your actual long trip. The cat must be made comfortable to long journeys. It is better to take your cat out for short trips like 500 km, so that she gets used to the travelling atmosphere. The cat must be trained to sleep in her carrier so that she does not make any trouble during the travel.
Your cat must always have an identity. It is advisable to hang an ID card around the neck of the cat. To make sure that she does not lose it, make it a habit well in advance when at home. The identity always comes in use if she wanders away somewhere. The ID card must have details like the details of the owner, the hotel and room number where they are put up at the travel place.
It is advisable to carry a cat carrier where she can have her own blanket and toys so that she does not make the journey uncomfortable.
Also take care that your cats’ food is carried with you. It is very important to cater to the needs of the pet specially when out of home so as to make her feel cosy and at home.
