Asthma in a layman’s language is nothing but difficulty in breathing. This may be a result of various reasons. One of the main reasons is found to be pollen or dust allergy.
There are many people who suffer from this problem due to the increasing pollution in the atmosphere. This may also be due to the environment surrounding you. At times the particular environment of a place does not suit your body as a result of which people end up getting asthma attacks.
There are many who fear to go for holidays because they have asthma. This is a very wrong notion in the minds of people. There have been cases where improvement has been seen in the asthma symptoms when patients with asthma travel to different places. This possibly could be due to the climatic and environmental changes. Other reasons could be that generally people tend to go to places where there is less pollution compared to city when they go for outings. The decrease in the intensity of the pollution helps better functioning of the respiratory system.
Also travelling abroad, tend to decrease the chances of asthma attack since again there is a complete change of scenario in the climate. However, it is very essential that if you are prone to asthma attacks, it is always advisable to carry medication that may help relieve or prevent asthma attacks.
There are people who get severe attacks because of stress related and excitement related problems. The more emotions they get, the worse the attack becomes. It is therefore advisable to keep emotions under control while travelling so as to prevent any asthma attack
If you are travelling to colder places it is very essential to carry warm clothes since sudden exposure to colder temperatures may trigger your system to get an attack.
It is also advised to asthma patients to carry their own pillows and blankets wherever they go since, pollens or dust in the blankets given at the travel place may trigger the attack.
It is always practical to carry the asthma medication for the duration planned for outing. Some extra medication could do wonders. Never neglect the inhalers while travelling since those are the ones that give immediate relief during an attack.
Travelling can be fun even for asthma patients if proper precautions and preventions are taken before hand so as to avoid severe attacks while on journey.
