Dengue fever
Dengue causes severe muscle and joint pain, and is one of the most dangerous tropical diseases. Every year a lot of cases of dengue are reported, with US reporting 100-200 cases every year, mostly from travelers. This virus comes through mosquitoes. The symptoms can be nausea, vomiting, rashes, and muscle pain. One can take some prevention measures like wearing full sleeves shirts, long pants, and hats; sleep on a bed with net; don’t expose much of your skin. The best treatment for the same is bed rest and a large quantity of fluids.
Malaria
Malaria can cause death also. It acts as a threat for people traveling to Central and South America. It is cause by a mosquito bite that attacks the red blood cells and bursts them. Intake of certain drugs, like proguanil, doxycycline, mefloquine, and primaquine, before traveling can prevent malaria. Here also the preventions measures are the same as that in case of dengue. i.e. wearing full sleeves shirts, long pants, and hats; sleeping on a bed with net; avoiding much exposure of your skin.
Hepatitis A
It is a virus affecting the lever. The major symptoms of it are jaundice, fatigue, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, low-grade fever, and headache. It is easily caught when someone eats food of someone affected with the disease. Vaccinations are available for the disease, which each and every person should have. It is up to your body, as to how much immunity power it has. One will be free form any worry, if the vaccinations for the same are taken on time.
Typhoid
Typhoid is caused due to some bacteria and its symptoms include high fever and head ache. Proper care of hygiene should be taken to be away from this disease. Avoid eating food of others, as that may be infected. Wash the vegetables in clean water. Certain antibiotics can cure the disease to a great extent. It is always advisable to consult a doctor before traveling.
Diarrhea
Diarrhea is very common, and can be the result of intake of half cooked food. Sealed bottle of water should be taken, avoid ice cubes in cold drinks. Seafood can also cause diarrhea. Abdominal disturbances start occurring due to improper intake of food and liquids during travel. So, better consult a doctor for treatment.
