The Hearing Factor of Ear Buds

According to an audiologist of a highly-ranked university, who did a study on ear buds and the effect they have on the ear during listening to music on MP3 players and iPod, the likelihood of hearing damage and even hearing loss is very high.
It was also reported in this study that ear buds are more likely to cause hearing damage than over-the-ear headphones. Since the ear bud is worn inside the ear, it increases the sound by six to nine decibels and could lead to permanent hearing loss.
A report that appears on the site of a newswire service hints at damages that are caused by an increased use of music devices like the iPod and MP3 player, which served to warn people about the risks of listening to music on such devices. The audiologist also reported that the sound that an ear bud creates is like the sound of a vacuum cleaner or a motorcycle engine.
The report also recommended that people use the devices at sixty percent of the device’s volume at a period of no more than one hour a day to prevent hearing loss and instead use muff-type or noise-cancelling hearing devices..
Besides intense sound, the music devices of today affords its listeners hours and hours of endless music with long-lasting batteries and larger data storing capabilities for these items.
Since ear buds are used by being placed directly into the ear, they are capable of causing far more damage than regular headphones placed over the ear. It was also reported that the ear buds that are preferred by young listeners are more likely to cause hearing loss than with the older hearing devices, which is why more and more young adults are experiencing some amount of hearing loss.
