Take A Break And Savour The Fun Side Of Life
June 28, 2008
For many of us, there are times when the pressures of life prove too much. If, that’s the case, it’s high-time you took a break from life and savoured its fun side. Perhaps, too much to do at work has ensured that you haven’t been on a summer vacation. Or, your live seems to be just rushing from one place to another, no time to breathe, or its work, work, work seven days a week without time for lunch.
No doubt, building a business or climbing the corporate ladder means one can get caught up in work routines and shoulder more responsibility than one has time for. But, don’t make the mistake of forgetting you are only human, not a machine. Take a break for the well-being of your mind, spirit and body. It’s time to take a break from life and its problems by going away on a vacation … far, far from the madding crowd!
Go on a summer break that promises adventure, romance, fun and leisure; turn your dreams into reality. Laze around on white sandy beaches, take in serene mountain views, let the calm solitude of the desert enter your soul. And, if you crave the excitement of an action filled adventure vacation, there are always distant lands to visit. Who’s to stop you from fulfilling your dreams, except you?
However, taking a break from life doesn’t mean having to go away. You can also simply hang free at home by taking the phone off its hook, not responding to e-mails, lounging around in pajamas all day long, or spend precious time alone or with friends. Simply, forget lists, routines and work, just enjoy the silence for a few days. Take a solitary break, sending the husband and children on a vacation abroad. Just say you would rather stay at home and enjoy your own company.
Rejuvenate, revitalise with a shopping trip, if that is what you enjoy. Or, instead of skipping lunch at work, as usual, go out and enjoy food that is fun, exotic, wild flavoured and textured. Go someplace you can enjoy the peace and the solitude, take a break from routine by doing something different, buy yourself a bunch of flowers, or treat yourself to a movie you’ve always wanted to see. Walk on the wild side, enjoying every bit of it.
A fast moving world means that our lives are full of demands from work, family, relationships, financial pressures, et al. It isn’t difficult to feel swamped under. Only human, we respond with sleep problems, rising stress and emotional levels, and breaking under the excessive strain, we tend to feel impatient, irritable and worthless, withdrawing into ourselves. If, not taken care of, you could end up feeling anxious and depressed, and while stress affects people in many different ways, undoubtedly it takes a negative toll on those who suffer from it.
What is required is a break from life to stop your self from burning out. You don’t have to spend a fortune, all you have to do is to turn off electronic devices like cell phones and computers, or relax in a fragrant bath. Or, your could lose yourself in a good book, treat yourself to a massage, and as a little goes a long way, take a ten minute walk or a bike ride, an half hour Yoga class for energy and a fresh perspective on life. You can indulge by doing simple stretching exercises at your desk, breathing long and deep, or share your feelings with friends and family to make life more manageable.
With so many different ways to take an essential break from life, don’t let stress compromise your physical and mental health.
