Symptoms Of Bronchitis-Wheezing Through It

July 18, 2008

What is bronchitis?
Bronchitis is a disease of the airways, which causes the lung’s bronchial tubes to be inflamed and as the tubes swell and become larger, it shuts off the small air passes in the lungs, effectively cutting the flow of air from and to the lungs a great deal, which can be deadly if the passageways are closed for a very long time.

What are the symptoms of bronchitis?
Generally, the symptoms for bronchitis are the following but not included to: frequent coughs that produce mucus from the lungs, constant fatigue of a lack of energy, wheezing while breathing, which may or may not occur and possibly a high fever, which may or may not occur, depending on the level of infection of the bronchial tubes.

When should I call my doctor about the symptoms of bronchitis?
Usually, you would contact your doctor about having bronchitis, when you either have a fever greater than 102 degrees Fahrenheit, having a cough that produces blood, having a chest cold that last two weeks or longer and/or having constant shortness of breath or wheezing, which should cause enough concern if you have one or more of these symptoms and when seeing the doctor, ash him or her what is the best method of treating or curing bronchitis.

If you do have or think you have bronchitis, see a doctor as soon as possible and have them do x-ray tests to determine whether or not you have bronchitis or a viral infection, with symptoms related to bronchitis.

Can and how bronchitis is treated or cured?
Yes, bronchitis can be treated and cured and the following are the best methods for treating bronchitis and they include but not limited to: drinking fluids (preferably clear fluids) around every two to four times a day, unless a doctor says otherwise, get plenty of rest, stay away from smoking tobacco products and to take pain relievers like aspirin to relieve body aches. Also, cough medicine can be used to treat and suppress dry coughs.

To reduce the risks of getting bronchitis, you should stay away from smoking, eat a healthy diet, wash your hands after every use, do not share food or utensils with other people and get plenty of rest if you catch a cold.
