What is brain tumor?
Brain tumors are growths that are located on the tissues of the brain and can cause blood clotting if not infection, which can spread to all parts of the brain.The two types of brain tumors care called malignant and benign tumors. Malignant tumors causes far more damage than benign tumors and are inoperable, while benign tumors causes less damage to the brain than malignant tumors and are operable.
What are the symptoms of brain tumors?
Brain tumor symptoms include but are not limited to the following: having severe headaches (especially in the morning), having periods of nausea or vomiting, having changes in patterns of speech, hearing and/or vision, having imbalances in walking or standing, having sudden mood or behavior changes, having trouble remembering stuff, having muscles twitches or seizures and having feelings of numbness in the arms and legs.
These signs are typical symptoms of brain tumors but other conditions can apply and only a doctor can find determine whether or not the symptoms are a cause of brain tumor or another type of illness. It is recommended that you should see a doctor if and when having those symptoms. The symptoms of brain tumors are long-lasting and can cause severe illnesses and even death, depending on the type(s) of brain tumor that are found in your brain.
How can you tell if you have a brain tumor?
Well, first you see a doctor and then they would perform tests, such as X-rays, physical exams, CT scans, MRI tests, angiograms and other tests to check for any tumors in the brain and the severity of the tumors, if any.
What are the treatments for brain tumors?
There are several options for treating brain tumors, with some including the usage of surgery to remove the tumor (if tumor can be removed), radiation therapy that uses high-energy radiation beams to kill the cancerous tumor, a process called fractionation, which the patient is given small doses of radiation to keep healthy cells from decaying, proton beam radiation therapy, which by the use of proton beams, destroy the tumor without harming other cells in the brain and of course, chemotherapy, where the patient is given certain types of drugs to kill the cancer from the tumor.
