Swollen eyelid is the swelling in the upper and lower eyelids of a person. Swollen eyed lids can also be a symptom of an other disease and medical conditions such as conjunctivitis. Periorbital puffiness is the name given to this condition.
The symptoms of swollen eyelids are redness, an inflammation in the eyelids and pain in the eyelids. When the inflammation occurs in the skin flaps that are located over the eyes then headache can also occur.

In rare conditions of eyelid swelling, lumps can be formed on the swollen eyelid’s skin. Tumor development is the cause of it.

Steroid drops can help to treat the viral conjunctivitis symptoms.
Home remedies are also present for treating swollen eyelids. These include washing face after some time intervals by using ice cold water, by reducing sodium intake, drinking water in large amounts, avoiding allergens and applying slices of cucumber on the eyelids for some time.
Swollen area can also be applied with heat (by using a warm, damp cloth) 2-3 times a day. This will help in reducing swelling. In some of the swollen eyelids cases the application of eye cream which contains Aloe Vera and vitamin e is also beneficial.
