Have Sex Often
It may seem really obvious, but have sex often. If you are having sex just once in a while, even if you have determined the exact “right time”, you may have trouble conceiving the baby of your dreams. Sperm will live for several days, but the life span of an egg is just 24 hours. If you have sex three or four times a week, you will be sure to have willing sperm hanging around waiting around to fertilize the right egg when it comes along.
Get Healthy
At least three months before you start trying to conceive it is wise to take a look at your eating habits. It is very easy to let ourselves slip into poor eating habits. Are the foods that you and your partner eating providing you with proper nutrition or simply filling you up?
The healthier your body is, the higher the chances for conceiving quickly and having a very healthy pregnancy. Try to eliminate sugary and fatty foods as well processed foods. This means cutting out frozen dinners, cookies, chips and foods of this nature. Instead select whole grains, fresh vegetables and fruits. Make sure you eat adequate protein, found in chicken and fish. Limit your consumption of red meat which contains unhealthy unstaurated fats.
Drinking a minimun of two litres of water each day will help with the production of cell membranes, cervical mucus, semem and sperm.
Both partners should take a vitamin supplement that contains selenium and zinc. This will keep the right hormones in proper balance.
If you are overweight, work to lose the weight. Excess weight can hinder ovulation. Eat the right foods in the proper portions.

Cut down on the consumption of alcohol. An occasional glass of wine or beer will not cause a problem, but binge drinking will hinder your efforts. Try to avoid coffee, tea and sugar as well.
Quit smoking and using other drugs such as cocaine and marijuana. Avoid over the counter drugs and medications whenever possible.
Work it Out
Exercise will help you keep your weight at a healthy level. This is important when trying to conceive. Exercising will infuse your body with a flood of oxygen. Your body will run more efficiently and you will be much more relaxed.
Go For a Check-Up
If you feel you may have trouble conceiving it might be worthwhile to go for a check-up before you even start trying. For example if your periods have always been irregular, or your cycles are overly long or very short, then have your doctor check your hormone balance.
Find out if your parents experience any fertility problems. Let your doctor know if you have undergone thyroid surgery or surgery in your abdomen or pituary glands.
Find out if either you or your partner have had chlamydia. Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease that thousands experience, but the sypmtoms are not easy to notice. If it left untreated it can cause a blockage to your Fallopian tubes which will greatly affect your fertility.
