Summer Anti Aging Tips

Everyone loves summer, enjoying the warm weather, relaxing in the sun, slipping out of jeans and jackets and into shorts and swimsuits, some of the best parts of the season! But, while you have fun make sure you continue to fight the signs of aging, when your skin is exposed to the harsh rays of a summer sun. Here are some expert tips to protect and combat the sun damage.

First, get the perfect summer uniform e.g. more this season than last, perhaps, a nice floral shift dress or white jeans and tee.

Go Glam and Guard Against the Sun

Never leave the house without sunscreen, a great big floppy hat – very glamourous and celebrity style to protect you from the damaging rays of the sun. Use a sun protection eye cream that not only gives you SPF protection, but actually has a touch of radiance to minimise fine lines and wrinkles.

Exfoliate Regularly
The loss of radiance adds years to the face, which no one wants. In the summer, we the time spent outdoors can wreak havoc on our skin, giving it a dull appearance. Regular exfoliation is essential, not only to improve skin texture but it also helps to add radiance back to the skin by polishing away dead skin cells, instantly exposing a radiant complexion.

Routine Facials
While, slathering on sunscreen protects our face from the harsh rays of the sun, we need to protect our faces from pore-clogging sunscreens. Routine facials are important during the summer months, as they not only hydrate skin parched by environmental stressors, such as, sun, water and wind, but they also prevent clogged pores due to frequent sunscreen applications.

Protect Your Eyes
It is very important to protect your eyes from the sun’s harsh rays by always wearing sunglasses with lenses that block 100% of UV light. Big lenses and wraparound styles provide additional protection. Sunglasses not only protect eyes from ultraviolet light (which can lead to cataracts), they also protect the delicate skin around the eyes and decrease squinting, which helps prevent wrinkles i.e. crow’s feet.

Keep Your Hair Healthy
Summertime is always hard on the hair, as the sun robs your hair of its natural pigments, which makes hair look duller and it reflects less light. Prevent hair from ageing by using an oil treatment that will replenish your natural oils. As we age, our hair tends to get more wiry and requires to be continually moisturized. Give yourself a hot oil treatment once a week or more, as required, rubbing oil in your hands and spreading from roots to ends, massaging well into the scalp. Other smart hair tricks include sleeping on a silk pillowcase and using a daily conditioner.

Invest in Your Teeth
Growing older means yellowing or graying teep that start to thin out and chip on the edges. If, that was not enough bad news, our teeth shift slightly as we get older, causing spacing between teeth or giving them a crooked appearance. Porcelain veneers can quickly turn back the hands of time, making your smile look years younger, by creating a super-white, healthy-looking smile that reflects youthfulness.

Tighten Up

Fun in the sun can push you another step closer to saggy skin, as the sun damages tiny fibres called collagen and elastin, causing them to lose firmness and elasticity, which gives us saggy, droopy skin covered with fine lines and wrinkles. Use anti aging products that increase the skin’s firmness, help protect and stimulate the natural renewal process of collagen and elastin, and restore your skin’s youthful spring.

Deflate Puffy Eyes
Our eyes are often the first place to show signs of fatigue and aging, so de-puff them gently with any botanical eye contour treatments infused with caffeine that detoxes the delicate tissue and softens swelling. A great trick is to put your eye treatment in the fridge for 15-minutes before use, and the cool gel will instantly relieve tired and puffy eyes.
