Stretching exercises – The other name of yoga

In this contemporary world everyone wants to stay fit, so that they can survive in highly competitive environment. For staying fit, one needs to spend time for doing some exercises. Yoga is a well known pattern of doing exercises to stay fit and healthy. It is believed that yoga not only helps in physical but also in mental development of a person. Yoga helps in making the body flexible, as all the yoga postures are a form of stretching exercises. There is a high range of stretching exercises in yoga which focus on stretching of various muscles, ultimately making them strong. As yoga consists of a variety of stretching exercises, it can be used as a part of any workout or for any sort of training.
While doing any workout, you can do yoga stretching exercises. You can even do it just after finishing your warm up, or after you finish your workout. Doing yoga after warm up reduces the risk of cramps. Postures associated with yoga stretches your muscles which helps you to relax. Yoga stretching exercises work on the principle of “more stretch more relax”.
Some professional’s had suggested that practicing yoga stretching exercises atleast 15 to 20 minutes every day, makes the mind fresh and also keeps the body fit. The stretching exercises are so easy, that they can be practiced even in the office or at any other work place.
Some simple yoga stretching exercises are:-
Starting from the neck, you can do some sideway stretching and rotation of the neck. You can do forward, backward and side bend using only the upper portion of the body. You can also perform some calf or hamstring stretching. You can also practice a quad or a lunge stretch. You can also try spinal twist to get rid of your back pain.
To get the best results, remain in the stretched pose for atleast 20 seconds. Repeat each pose you are doing for minimum 5 times. If these stretching exercises are straining your muscles, it means that you are on the way to get more flexible muscles. Performing these stretching exercises regularly, improves the flexibility and capability of the muscles.
These stretching exercises should be done carefully and in a prescribed manner. It’s better to do them with the help of a trainer, as they may cause injuries if done in the wrong way.
Thus, by performing various yoga stretching exercises one can improve the flexibility of the body, which ultimately improves the quality of living.
