Sleeping is more than simple rest for many of us. It generally does not come so easy to some people. As soon as we lay down to sleep, our minds get flooded with thoughts of the day that has passed and the day that is to come.
Some guys are intelligent enough to keep to healthy sleeping habits, like sleeping at some fixed time everyday, dimming the lights just before going to bed and relaxing. However, not all are so methodical in their actions.
Sleeping pills often come to the rescue at such times when you can’t seem to get some shut eye. However, there are several questions surrounding sleeping pills. Read on to find out more about these.
Zolpidem
This is helpful for people who struggle with falling asleep. This one helps you go to sleep. However, it does not ensure that you will stay asleep. It is not addictive if used for a few weeks, but if used m more than that, it can become a habit.
If you take large doses than you will have hallucinations, amnesia, delusions, euphoria, increased appetite, reduced libido and such other symptoms.
Trazodone
If you are a victim of insomnia or mild form of depression then this one is for you. It is an antidepressant. It increases the activity of serotonin in your brain and takes about an hour to show any effect.
If you take it for some nights continuously then you can expect drowsiness, lethargy, fatigue, light-headedness, confusion, dizziness, uncontrollable laughter, increased sex drive, vertigo, slowed speech, weakness and involuntary movements among other side effects.
Triazolam
This one is for people who cannot fall to sleep. It is similar to zolpidem. However, it tends to be habit-forming. If you take more of it, you will need to take larger doses to feel its effect.
When taken in low doses, it is quite safe; however, it can cause clumsiness, dizziness, fatigue, headache, sluggishness, nervousness and unusual weakness as well as nausea.
Eszopiclone
If you need help to fall asleep as well as to stay asleep, this is the one for you. It gets you to sleep in an hour and does not wear out for approximately six hours. Putting an abrupt stop to this pill can cause withdrawal symptoms like anxiety, stomach cramps, unusual dreams, vomiting, nausea, sweating and shakiness.
