Everyday or skin is exposed to sun, pollution, dirt and many other components that has adverse effects on the skin. Skin infections and infestations are two the common skin problem among the rest. Usually the symptoms of infections and infestations are itching and rash.
Skin infections and infestations are contagious, that means if someone comes in contact with a person infected, then he/she might suffer from the same problem. This problem may also occur due to bacteria that carry the germs.
When we talk about skin infections and infestations the first name that comes to mind are boils. They are red lumps on the skin caused by Staphylococcus bacterium. A boil can be painful sometimes. People suffering from eczema and diabetes do have the chance of having boils more than other people. Boils can be located on the neck, armpits and sometimes on the nose.
To prevent infection and spreading of boil, wash the surrounded area with antibacterial soap and keep the area clean. Do not scratch and try to burst a boil. That will only make things worse. If the boil is too big then it is better to consult a doctor.
Impetigo is like blisters that bursts and leaves its crusts in the skin. They occur on areas around the lips, ears and nose. If there is a cut or a sore, then there are more chances of having impetigo. It is better not to touch impetigo, because that will only spread the infection on other parts of the body as well as to other people.
It is better to consult a doctor and get medication. If children are suffering from Impetigo then keep them away from school and do not let them touch the infected area. Wash the cloths; towels and other used things after every use.
Warts are another form of skin infections, but they are basically harmless. Children are more prone to this skin problem as their immune system is not as strong as an adult person. Usually warts occur on hands, knees, face and elbows — areas that are prone to injuries. Just consult a doctor and use medication.
