Skin Changes During Pregnancy
During your pregnancy you and your body will go through more changes than you ever thought possible. One of the things that will be affected is your skin. Not only will you possibly experience stretch marks, but a whole other bundle of situations can arise.
One of these conditions is acne. It is possible that your acne will improve during your pregnancy, but if you tend to breakout during your period, you may just breakout during your pregnancy. Bluish or blotchy legs are also a possibility during your pregnancy.
You may also notice that your face has some brownish darkening of the skin. Some women know this as the mask of pregnancy but it is called melasma and it disappears after delivery. On a better note, you will also get a glow to your skin during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. This is what most people call the healthy glow during your pregnancy.
It is also possible that you will develop itchiness, especially around the belly area and the breast area. You will find that this is caused from your skin stretching. There is also the linea nigra. This is the line that goes from your belly button to your pubic bone. It is more noticeable during the second trimester.
You may also experience puffiness, rashes or red and itchy palms. With all of the changes going on in your body, these things are bound to happen to the best of us. Your nails may also become stronger or possibly brittle or soft. As we all know, stretch marks and spider veins are a part of the package when it comes to pregnancy.
Sunscreen and wearing a hat outside are just some examples of ways by which you can protect your skin. Of course, makeup can hide many things, including stretch marks. Try to stay away from extreme heat and keep your skin moisturized to help with the itchiness.
If you find that any of these issues get out of hand, seek out the advice of your doctor. They will be able to help you work around any of the situations that you have going on.
