Scientific breakthroughs have flooded the market with various skin care products for dry, oily, normal and combination skin. With such a variety to choose from, it is tough to find the right match for your skin type. However, with Ayurvedic skin care products one cannot go wrong, as these ancient time-tested, natural home remedies from Ancient India ensure a perfectly glowing skin, few other skin products deliver.
They replace essential oils naturally, maintain the skin’s moisture, giving you skin that rivals Cleopatra’s who bathed in asses’ milk to maintain beautiful skin. They also protect your skin from the ultraviolet rays of the sun, and since they do not contain harsh chemicals and fragrances they do not irritate sensitive skin. However, making clean skin an essential step in one’s daily skin care routing is the first step towards beautiful skin. Beauty care and skin care go hand in hand.
Facial Masks
Begin and the end your day by washing the face to get rid of dust, grime, oil and sweat which if not removed can lead to blackheads, pimples and clogged pores. While, you can cleanse the face with creams, lotions, gels and liquid soap, a cotton pad dipped in fresh milk makes for an equally effective cleanser. Face masks, especially natural masks like clay masks are useful in keeping the skin looking clean, soft and fresh looking. Clays such as Fullers earth or Kaolin are excellent for removing grime, dead cells and excessive skin oil. Kaolin is also used for tummy upsets as it can absorb toxins from the system. Exfoliators are useful in removing dead cells from the skin and help keep it looking young. Oatmeal and bran rich in Vitamin B and Vitamin E make excellent exfoliating agents. Other natural ingredients like cucumbers, curds, lemon juice and Brewer’s Yeast help restore the acid / alkali balance of the skin.
Toning
Skin care products also include toners and astringents, which one uses after cleansing the skin. They are useful in not only freshening and toning the skin, but also in restoring the acid / alkali balance of the skin, including clearing away all traces of dirt or oil.
Mosturising
Moisturisers are essential to protect the skin from the drying influences of the environment e.g. the sun, cold and heat, keeping the skin soft and moist. They should be chosen in accordance with skin types i.e. water / oil based one’s for normal skin and those with a high oil content for dry skin.
