August 8, 2008
Ahem! Singh is Kinng is now green signaled and all set to hit theaters today. Vipul Shah. Anees Bazmee. Akki and Kat are the four names for whom success is no more a pretty big sum. That makes Singh is King the most anticipated movie of the season. In addition, the wait was worth it!
Though you can write your own movie review about Singh Is King, this review may help you to watch this hardcore entertaining film. A pure Punjabi isttyle does not ask you for logic and if you have it, forget it for a while or else you never enjoy a film of this type and particularly Singh is Kinng. Films by Anees Bazmee’s are very intense on entertainment though the plotline might be paper-thin, maybe ludicrous and extravagantly humorous, but when you see the movie, you really enjoy watching and keeping your bums on the seat!
Singh is Kinng Movie Review
Anees has the knack of making colossally watch worthy comedy movies. Sing is King is hilarious in entirety. A pack of comedy, romance, action and drama, all is well synchronized in the 2 hr 15 minute. Katrina Kaif, as always, looks cute and particularly in this film she has put on some breathtaking dresses. Well, in this movie, to be noted, she has dubbed her own lines (as she would speak English in most of scenes that must have had been simple for her) and is usually easy on the ears.
Neha Dhupia (Julie fame) is the surprisal package and impacts some of the best scenes in the film. She is looking stupefying and boasts neat flair for comedy. Javed Jaffrey, on the other hand, bit of a mix spiced up with double role. As kinng’s perplexed half blind half deaf brother, Javed has played funny role. He is also Ranvir’s father in the movie and his dialogues, particularly in the climax can make you laugh for sure.
Talking about our new King, Akshay Kumar (though he announced ‘Bachchan’ as King of Bollywood) takes speedy strides with Singh is King. Certainly, one has seen him in comic roles again and again and maybe, he is currently the best as comedian hero! And, this has been carried on. There is no saturation point as far as his acting in this movie is concerned. Akki holds audience’s attention in every scene, no matter how strong the shot is, and this is the biggest compliment for any hero. Sing is King without Akshay is like a barber without blade. Akshay rocks!
The plot is all about Happy Singh (Akshay Kumar), a fellow who would always want to help people but unwittingly things go bad to worse all the times and because of this all, the habitants program to kick him off as the villagers are fed up of Happy’s openhandedness that has resulted in plenty of hilarious events. Out of desperation, all the villagers plan to send him on a long trip so that at least for those days, that keeps him out and village at peace. They give reason to bring Lucky back to Punjab, as his wretched acts were traducing their image in Australia.
The happy-go-lucky chawbacon takes his mission quite seriously and then embarks on his journey. There, he is accompanied by his friend, Rangeela (Om Puri), who would hate Happy for dragging him into this issue. Finally, they leave according to villagers’ plan to Australia for bringing back the underworld Don Luky Singh (Sonu Sood). Another reason brining Don back is his parents are not able to live without him.
The story then begins interestingly as Happy Singh happily goes to Australia but lands up in Egypt by mistake! There, he falls in love with Katrina and then reaches in Australia ending up with tragedy. This Happy Singh then turns the King… The Don… But don’t worry as there is nothing serious about it… All fun… It is also spiced up with love triangle and all those ‘hindi movie masalas’.
About cutie lady, Katrina, she looks becharming and acts out her part with enormous confidence. Kiron Kher is all time great and so is Om Puri. All delivered classic performances! They compliment Akshay Kumar so well. Ranvir Shorey is awesome too and Sonu Sood is another hero who is eventually getting his place in Hindi films. Javed Jaffrey’s character would work big time as he does a somersaulting in the pre-climax. Neha Dhupia is sexy and the chitchat between Sudhanshu Pandey and Yashpal Sharma suits the sequences. Manoj Pahwa is also good in the movie Singh is Kinng.
All in all, Singh is King lives up to the hype and ballyhoo. If you want a joyride with no taxing the brains then you should board the wagon called Singh is Kinng. At the box-office, the film is anticipated to fetch a big blow happy start. A trio of the paid preview, the opening weekend, and the 1st week business is considered to be one of the record-smashing. Nevertheless the new oppositions in the later week, Singh is King would rule the hearts of the audiences.
