Singapore turns its red eye towards porn sites

Singapore has blackballed access to two of the pornographic websites in “symbolic statement” of the Singapore’s societal values, its media person said yesterday, on 23rd May. The two websites those the regulator declined to name but local media unveil as YouPorn and RedTube. The websites serve in a similar fashion that very popular video-sharing website YouTube does. These two Web sites allowed users to add and download pornographic videos.
It should be marked that the hardcore pornographic videos added on such sites are quite easy to access by the youngsters as each video starts streaming for free once the website user clicks on the related link as stated by Jason Hoong, an official from the Media Development Authority (MDA) charging that couple of websites.
The sites those were banned after the authorities encountered negative feedback from the public. The websites were the latest additions to a list of 100 “mass impact objectionable” pornographic sites banned in the country. Singapore that does not allow the possession, distribution and making of such clips, defends its action as essential to protect the youth ruining their lives.
However, online reactions to a local media reported for the ban have been not in a favorable, with users sentencing that such decision is indeed moralistic and useless.
