Shocking stats raveled by health minister Ramadoss

No doubt there is a study decline in the occurrence of tuberculosis liked deaths in India in the recent decade but still awesome nine hundred people falls prey to this deadly disease. This shocking statistics were revealed by Dr Abumani Ramadoss, Minister of Health and Family Welfare of India.

The WHO’s (World Health Organization) 2008 global Tuberculosis report shows that the number of annual Tuberculosis deaths in India has declined from 4.2 million in the year 1990 to about 2.8 million in the year 2006 a significant decline but still it is a big figure, Dr. Ramadoss told Indian Parliament. Dr Abumani Ramadoss, Minister of Health and Family Welfare of India said that execution of the DOTS strategy has aided to decline the number of daily deaths from fourteen hundred to the current level of nine hundred.

Current researches have shown that the number of multi-drug resistant Tuberculosis cases has not augmented over the past few years, Dr. Abumani Ramadoss commented, adding that MDR-TB cases are likely to make up about 3 percent of all new TB cases. He said that MDR-TB is diagnosed in between 12 percent and 17 percent of recurring Tuberculosis cases.

According to Dr. Abumani Ramadoss, increasing admittance to the facilities provided under India’s Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program means that non-governmental groups, private sector organizations and medical colleges need to become more concerned.
