Salon Perms – The Choices

The time has finally come and you have made the decision to get a perm. The first questions that you ask yourself is whether or not you want to have a home perm or get it done professionally. If you decide to get it done at home, your options are limited as to what kind you can have.
If you have made the decision to have it done professionally, your options are more open and less limited. If your hair is fine, tinted or damaged in any way, an acid perm would be a great match for you. For hair that is resistant to curl but is normal, than the alkaline perm is a great match. This is also the typical type of perm for home use. Exothermic perms are wonderful for curls.
All of these types of perms can be used to give you several different types and styles of perms. A body perm is simply that, to give your hair a little pick-me-up. If your hair is short and you have a hard time giving a little lift, a root perm may be just what the doctor ordered.
Maybe you prefer the soft natural type of curls. This is called the pain curl perms. Is your hair all one length? Then you need a stack perm. To get your long hair to appear thicker, a spiral perm will give you long flowing beautiful curls. Spot perms are just as they say. The perm is only applied to certain areas of the hair.
To give your hair a natural look with body and curl, a weave perm could be just what the doctor ordered. This is when they leave sections of the hair straight while curling the rest. And lastly, if your perm is growing out, get the straight pieces redone by protecting the curls you already have by applying a cream or lotion.
