Removing A Ring From A Swollen Finger
June 16, 2008
Rings add to the beauty of hands, especially in case of women. In fact, a female hand without even a single ring seems to be somewhat imperfect. Though a ring looks extremely good, it might also create a problem at times, especially when it gets stuck on your finger. In most of the cases, the reason for a stuck ring comprises of a swollen finger, the result of weight gain, pregnancy or some problem.
Apply cold water and a little soap. Gently work the soap under the ring and twist. If the ring still does not come off, massage the area of the finger below the knuckle to remove some of the fluid from the finger. Wait a few minutes, and then repeat. Continue until the finger is good and chafed.
Another way removing a ring from a swollen finger is put it in ice water on a stool for 10 minutes while sitting on the floor to raise her finger above the heart. Then just twist it constantly while spraying Windex on it, and then take a good grip on it and pulled and twisted like hell and finally it pops right off! Remember, one can do it. Just use Windex, and keep turning while you pull. Also, if you have a friend with you, have them try to squeeze the skin under the ring while pulling and twisting.
Removing a ring from a swollen finger – another opinion
First, slip a few centimeters of the floss under the ring, remember that the short end of the floss should point towards your hand and the long one must extend to the swollen finger. Next, start wrapping the floss snugly around the finger, start just above the ring and each row of floss must be tight up against the last one, as if you wind the thread onto a spool. Wrapping the finger until the floss extends a little beyond the swollen joint is a better idea for removing a ring from a swollen finger. Don’t be afraid to pull the floss tight — you want to slightly compress the swollen joint so you can pull the ring over it.
At last, when the swollen joint is wrapped, grasp the end of the floss that is tucked under the ring, and begin to gently unwrap it. Go slowly, and make sure to grasp the floss firmly. The unwinding floss will push the ring along, remove the ring once it passes over the swollen joint, then unwind the remainder of the floss so that it doesn’t block circulation to your finger.
