Rejuvenating Ageing Eyes

The windows to our soul, eyes are the most noted feature of our face. Unfortunately, the skin around the eyes being extremely thin and fragile, they are also the first to show the first signs of ageing. Ageing of the eyes begins as early as our late 20’s and early 30’s.
Fortunately for us, there are many preventative measures we can take to prevent them from ageing fast. As well, there are many exciting new non-surgical methods available for rejuvenating ageing eyes, quite capable of reversing some of the damage. Crows feet, the fine spray of wrinkles that fan out at the outer corner of eyes when we smile, eye hoods that obstruct vision, eye bags or puffy eyes, dark circles, etc. are all the hallmarks of ageing eyes. The result of the breakdown and loss of collagen in our skin as we grow older.
Invest in a good eye-cream to lubricate the fragile skin around the eyes. Apply with your ring finger, patting it in gently on your upper and lower lid till it disappears. Regular use both day and night will help diminish wrinkles and dark circles to a great extent. Since, the skin around our eyes do not have any oil glands, it is essential to use an eye-cream that hydrates the skin and works to reduce puffiness.
Look out for eye-creams made from natural ingredients, such as, aloe vera, nutmeg oil, sunflower, almond and cucumber. While, those fortified with vitamin A and vitamin D help counter the lethal effects of ultra violet rays of the sun.
There are several homemade remedies that work wonders, as well. For example:
1. Coconut or unscented castor oil applied every night before going to bed prevents wrinkles and other signs of ageing.
2. Mashed pineapple applied to the eyes and allowed to stay on for 15-20 minutes is usefully in getting rid of wrinkles.
3. Lemon mixed with cucumber juice and applied to the eyes for 10-15 minutes works wonders to rejuvenate ageing eyes.
4. Banish under-eye dark circles by giving yourself a bedtime almond oil eye massage at bedtime for a fortnight.
5. An equal mix of lemon and tomato juices, also helps lighten dark circles under the eyes.
Prevention Is Better Than Cure
.Never was a saying more apt, so protect your eyes from harsh sunlight by wearing wrap around sun glasses. Adopt a healthy diet and exercise regimen to keep premature ageing of the eyes at bay. Eat a diet rich in anti-oxidants to improve the health of your skin. You can also use Botox to prevent crow’s feet from developing. While, anti-aging skin creams, such as, Retin A or Vitamin C prevent wrinkles.
