Some tips to protect yourself from sun exposure
You should take special care when you expose yourself to the sun. It does not matter what time of the year it is, you should care for your eyes and skin especially in the hot summer months.
Wear sunglasses
Wearing sunglasses will provide your eyes good protection from UV rays. You can use sunglasses that fit close to your eyes because they will offer proper protection. Tinted lenses will provide about 80 percent protection. You can go for sunglasses that are able to block visible blue light because they offer a lot of protection.
Use a hat
Wearing a hat will not only make a fashion statement for you but also provide much needed sun protection. On especially sunny days, you can opt for wide-rimmed hats. They will help keep your skin from getting wrinkles and developing crow’s feet. A combination of hat and sunglasses will work well in providing you with all the sun protection you need.
Wear a sunscreen daily
Besides wearing a hat and sunglasses, you should remember to apply a sunscreen with a high SPF, which will ensure sun protection for your skin.
How to treat sunburn
If you do end up getting sunburnt, you can try the following remedies.
Soaking your burn in cold water or apply cold compresses can help to relieve the pain.
You should avoid putting on greasy substances because they lock in the heat and cause damage.
Cooling lotions containing menthol or camphor might feel good, but they can be allergic, so it is good to avoid them.
See your doctor if the sunburn causes blisters, swelling or oozing of fluid. Avoid using lotions or creams on such a sunburn.
