Promoting healthier body image
How you see yourself is your body image. This can be at any given point in time. The way you see yourself makes you think that others also see you that way.
Media projects the ideal image of any woman, which is not real. They focus on showing off a body that is almost impossible to achieve. This creates vulnerability in women to develop eating disorders because of having a bad body image.
However, you should remember that you are more than a body and it should be more about how you feel than how you look because if you feel good then you will look good too. Maintaining a good health and body should be your aim. Here are a few steps you can follow to gain a good body image.
You cannot fully control your size
Some women do not find it difficult at all to maintain their skinny size even after eating a lot. However, some others eat little but often find themselves growing more and more in size. The fact is that your size mainly depends on your genetic and environmental history. Therefore, your size is okay as long as your body is healthy.
Do not starve yourself
Starving yourself is going to get you nowhere. You should remember that your body needs fuel. You do not need to go overboard, however you do need to eat healthy to maintain your health.
Lend an ear to your body
Listen to what your body needs. If you are hungry, then you should eat, but you should know when to stop.
Exercise the fun way
Add some activity in your life and do it for fun and not as a chore. Instead of keeping a goal to lose weight, keep a goal to get good health. If you exercise you will increase your self-esteem, self-image and energy level.
Describe yourself positively
Avoid using words like fat or ugly when describing yourself. Use better words to describe yourself.
Go beyond the looks
Instead of focussing on other women’s looks, look at what they have accomplished. Remember every woman is more than her looks alone.
Manage stress
If you feel stressed out, do not be afraid to ask your friends and family for support.
