Pregnancy is supposed to be the happiest phase in any women’s life. It is only during the time of pregnancy that we and our loved ones take more care and give more attention to our diet.

Diet is one of the most important aspects during pregnancy. The pregnant woman is advised to have proper diet and apart from the normal routine food she should have certain food items that will directly help in the growth of the fetus during the development stages. These foods are named as pregnancy super foods.

As the fetus in the womb is in the developing stage so it is very essential that the mother has a balanced diet that in turn will help the baby’s growth. The fetus is connected to the mother by an umbilical cord and it is through this cord the food reaches the fetus from the mother.

One of the most important super foods is fish. Fish contains omega-3 fatty acids, which is very important for the proper development and functioning of the baby’s brain and central nervous system(CNS). The most important and the functional part of the body is CNS. The complete functioning of the body is under the control of the CNS. So during the development stage care should be taken to have a diet that is rich in omega-3 fatty acids.

Inclusion of green vegetables in the diet is important these green leaves act as a good source of iron and vitamins. Spinach is the best as it contains a large amount of iron. Iron is very important in the development of red blood cells which helps in the transport of oxygen. Deficiency of iron leads to anemia where the child is born with low hemoglobin %. So consumption of green vegetables is a must for the pregnant women.

Milk is a good source of calcium that is required for the proper development of bones and teeth. Milk can be consumed with a health drink that contains protein and vitamins that will boost the health of the baby. Deficiency of calcium will lead to weak bones and osteoporosis. So care should be taken to have proper amount of milk.

Dry fruits like raisins, almonds are rich source of fiber and proteins that will help in the proper development of the baby. The more the fiber content in the food the better will be the digestion and the problems like constipation will be cured if the fiber content will be more.

So it is very important for the pregnant women to include super foods in their diet to get a healthy and strong baby.
