Pooja Room According To the Vaastu Shastra

Room where you worship God for prosperity and peace is known as pooja room. As per the Vaastu Shastra the north-east corner of your house is best location for your pooja room because this area is governed by the God. So, locating this room within north-east direction would bring good health, happiness, wealth, peace and prosperity for everyone in the house. North-east is also considered auspicious for many other motives. In morning, when sunrays fall in the house from this direction, it generates positive energy in your house. You can also prefer east and north direction for pooja room as well.
Special pooja’s are mainly performed in center of the house that is called as Brahmasthana. Therefore, if you have big plot then the center of plot is best for pooja room. It is very important to avoid pooja room to be sated inside the Bedroom room. In addition, it is also significant that pooja room must not be situated below, next or above the kitchen or toilet. Pooja room should be located at ground floor, neither in basement nor at first floor. Avoid using the space under stairs for pooja room.
The windows and doors of this room should have to be in East and North direction. The doors with two shutters are mainly preferred for pooja room. According to the Vaastu Shastra there should not be any other door closer to it. There must be one or two ventilators in the pooja room. The colors of the walls of this room should be light yellow, white or blue. Pooja room should have marble flooring in either off white or white color. The cupboards that are built to store pooja items should be in West or South direction. It is beneficial if you have built a doorstep in pooja room.
Now the interior of pooja room as per the Vaastu Shastra:
The idols of God should be set in north-east direction in the pooja room. It is very important to keep in mind the idols should not face the door of pooja room and also not facing one another. Avoid arranging two idols of same god. Place each idol one inch away from pooja room wall.
Put the water pictures and “Kalash” pictures in East or North direction in pooja room. Place deepak lamps in “Agni” kund i.e. south-east direction. You should keep in mind to face in east direction while worshipping. Avoid putting heavy idols, broken or cluttered idols in pooja room. Do not keep the photos of dead person in pooja room.
And try to keep your pooja room clutter free and clean. There should be pooja room in your house. And this room should not be used as store room or for any other purpose.
