Organic Makeup is the latest trend in makeup products. It has been developed for those customers who don’t wish to use products, which are natural on their skin.
The word ‘organic’ is associated to products, which are chemical free and completely natural. In the cosmetic industry, there are many companies, which use the term ‘organic’ a little too freely, thus misleading customers into believing that their product is natural and chemical free.
Most of these products do contain some chemicals and preservative components in their formulas.
The use of the word ‘organic’ is not regulated in cosmetics as it is in the food industry. Many skin care products and makeup abuse the term in the hopes of gaining more customers in a certain market segment.
Campaigns have been organized regarding this matter, in protest for misleading the public for economic gain. When a product claims to be ‘organic’, it should really come from a 100% natural source.
Beware of this type of scam and read the label to ensure that you are purchasing what you are offered. It’s always recommendable to understand the product you are purchasing, that way you won’t have any nasty surprises!
Despite this situation, there are a number of companies, which have built their business using only organic materials for their cosmetics. Check the list of components and formula on the cosmetics you purchase: make sure it doesn’t contain chemicals you don’t wish to use your skin.
The use of mineral makeup has been boosted in the past few months. Minerals included in these cosmetics are usually mica, zinc dioxide, and titanium dioxide which are pulverized into fine powders.
Apparently, these products are healthy and good for your skin. They contain sun filters and prevent aging signs. Talc, preservatives, additives, nor perfumes are used in this type of makeup. The light complexion of the powder prevents pores from clogging and becoming blemished, giving you skin a natural glow!
Mineral makeup companies add other natural ingredients to their cosmetics, such as lavender, royal jelly, sandalwood, and green tea extracts, to enhance the benefits of the product.
