Headache is a common problem which can be very miserable during pregnancy. It is not serious or dangerous, but brings in lot of discomfort. During the first and third trimesters of pregnancy, headaches are reported as common complaint. It is very difficult to predict the possible causes of pregnancy at any specific time.
Migraine is influenced by hormonal factors during pregnancy, menopause, menstruation and while using oral contraceptives. Migraine is common among 15 to 20 percent of pregnant woman. Over the last few months of pregnancy, migraine problems are reported quite often. Although migraine may be painful and discomfort for the pregnant woman, it does not create any danger for the foetus.
Here are some of the natural remedies that can be taken for headache during pregnancy.
Drink plenty of water. Most of the times, dehydration is said to cause headache. So keep the water supply for your body through out the day to avoid headaches. Water intake also gives many benefits for the inner health of the system.
Due to low blood sugar also, headache may be experienced. You can avoid this problem by taking high energy snacks and other foods which can keep up the blood sugar level.
Try to avoid being in loud environment. Pregnant woman will have to be in relaxed environment with mild music and pollution free air. It is better if pregnant woman can avoid crowded malls or restaurants and places with loud music and bright lights.
Acupuncture or any other massage can bring in relief when you have headache. Try lying down on firm mattress and lift your feet up for 10 to 15 minutes.
Meditation, yoga and other relaxing techniques can keep the mind cool and relaxed. These exercises can reduce tension and can reduce the headaches.
Whenever severe headache is experienced, it is better for the person to rest and relax. Resting helps many times in reducing the body tension and gives peace of mind.
Avoid over heated environment. Pregnant women will need to spend more time in healthy environment which is not over heated and smoke filled.
