Both men and women have facial hair. Men have it easier; all they have to do is shave everyday and get rid of it. Facial hair growth for women differs vastly.
Lots of women in the child bearing age and those close to menopause experience hair growth on the upper lip and on the chin. Unlike men, women have soft downy hair and sometimes just a few strands. In the interest of vanity, women like to have these removed.
Facial hair is caused because of several factors, being heredity, or hormonal imbalance, pregnancy, and menopause. Climate changes and prolonged stress can also result in facial hair. There are several ways to get rid of this unwanted facial hair.
Among the many ways, listed below are the few most common methods adopted by women. Tweezing is the most uncomplicated method, adopted by a lot of women, they use sharp tweezers and the hair is removed from the root one by one. It is extremely painful, though highly inexpensive.
Some people opt for threading. This more often than not, requires the help of a professional who uses a cotton thread to make a loop and pull out the hair.
This method results in coarser re-growth but is quicker than tweezing.
Waxing is another preferred option, with results lasting up to 5 weeks. However, the hair has to grow to a certain length to wax it again.
It is painful but offers a clean and smooth look. Paraffin wax can be used and can either be done on one’s own or professional help may be sought. It is quite effective if done regularly.
Electrolysis is emerging as a popular method where a needle is inserted in the hair shaft. A laser beam is passed through it and it destroys the hair from its root. It is time consuming and may take several sessions based on hair growth and texture. It is a permanent method and is expensive. It may lead to pigmentation, if not done properly.
Bleaching is a simple method, of lightening the facial hair so it merges with the skin color. The hair is not removed but made less noticeable. This can be done in the comfort of your home or professional assistance maybe sought.
