Managing Hair During Monsoon

Monsoon is the worst season for your hair. Think of repeated soaking and the high dampness and you will feel sorry for your hair. Fungal infection, boils and lice are some of the hair problems during the rainy season. Even hygiene conscious people get affected. You have to work hard to keep your hair healthy.

The article discusses how you can manage and maintain healthy hair during rainy season.

Keep your hair clean and dry

You should shampoo your hair frequently in this season, especially after you are drenched in the rain. You might think that it will only elevate the problem. However, washing frequently will clean out your hair of residual dirt and any germs that might have started growing.

You should also keep it dry to prevent the breeding of any bacteria or fungi. If you have dry hair, magnolia blossoms and watercress extracts will prove to be good to your hair. They will moisturise your hair and prevent it from becoming dry and frizzy. Natural extracts of rosemary and sage will add the bounce to oily hair.

You can use a hair dryer with a diffuser and keep it 6-8 inches away from your hair to keep it from singeing or burning. If your hair gets wet in the rain, then finger it till it dries out.

Treating boils

You can use Betadine AD shampoo twice a week. If you have fungal infections and dandruff, ketoconazole based shampoos like Nizral, KZ work well. Perlice works well at getting rid of lice. However, if the problems persist you should consult your dermatologist as soon as possible to prevent your condition from worsening further.

Avoid brushing wet hair

Brush your hair after towel drying it. Use a wide-toothed comb to brush it and brush it gently. Avoid using a brush. Also, wait for it to dry completely before tying it up.

Eat healthy

Your hair needs nourishment. Remember that if you do not provide proper nourishment to your body, then your body will first start using stored nutrients from your hair, leaving your hair dull and weak. Therefore, eat healthy to keep your whole body nourished and your hair healthy.

Eat lots of proteins and whole grains and nuts. These are rich in biotin, which help in hair growth.
