Makeup Spring Clean

Time to condense whatever is in your ever-growing makeup case. After all, when spring comes around, its time to spring clean and clear out junk, make space, and get organised. But, your date with your makeup case can leave you bemused. How does one know what has expired? Does makeup have an expiration date and what is dangerous to use? Here’s some help for you!
Blushes and Eye Shadows
When it comes to eye shadows and blushes, you can use your senses of sight and smell to figure out whether its time to sèrow them in the garbage. Hold on to favourite hues for two years, maximum. As soon as you see a change in colour or odour, regardless of how long it has been in your makeup kit, get rid of them!
Mascara
So, you simply love that killer mascara and want to hold onto it forever. Just forget it! Mascara has the shortest shelf life of all cosmetics. Once you pull the brush out and put it back in, it begins to breed tiny bacteria and debris. No matter how much you love the colour, mascara should be replaced every three months. Stock up, in case you feel that your favourite mascara may be discontinued, keeping your mascara store sealed for future use.
Lipstick
Although lipstick can stand one to two years of use, if it develops an unusual odour, it’s time to toss it out. If you have a lipstick colour that you absolutely love, refrigerate it to extend its longevity.
Lip and Eye Liners
Liners (does not include liquid liners) are the superstars of your beauty bar. They are good for roughly three years. Just make sure you sharpen them regularly to keep the tips as clean as possible before applying them to your lips and eyes.
