Make it Better with Oats
I bet you never knew all of the benefits that eating something as simple as oatmeal could have. It fights heart disease, diabetes, colon cancer and even obesity. Two things that make this such a powerful food are complex carbohydrates and fiber. You can also substitute with cereals that are high in fiber such as All-Bran or Fiber One.
Some of the ways that you can use oats are to toast some that are plain in the oven on 350 degrees. Toast for about 10 minutes and then put them in some trail mix. You can also use a cup of oatmeal in meatloaf and you won’t add any calories to the dish. How about adding some oats to your favorite cereal to add a little more nutrition?
After a hard night out on the town with the boys, you wake up the next morning feeling the hangover. A quick and easy cure for that is a hot bowl of oatmeal. Believe it or not, this does work. Use a plain packet of oatmeal and make it according to the directions. In place of milk and sugar that you would put in the cereal, add 1 tablespoon of crunch peanut butter to help the digestion process while adding some protein to your breakfast.
Try making Orient Express Oatmeal as a snack or for breakfast. You will need ¾ cup plain instant oatmeal, 1 cup of 1 percent milk, 1 tablespoon of sliced almonds, ½ tsp of honey, ½ tsp of powdered ginger, 1 tsp of flaxseed and 1 tablespoon of low fat yogurt. Combine all of the ingredients and microwave for 2 minutes and top piping hot cereal with the yogurt. This is a great nutritional way to start off your day.
With a little bit of research, you will be able to find other recipes that you can use oats with. It is a healthy addition to your daily diet that won’t interrupt your weight loss program. So the next time you go shopping, stop in the cereal isle and pick yourself up a container.
