Women feel downright overwhelmed by the vast number of lipstick shades available today. It can be difficult to find the color that suits you best, even if you pick out your favorite shade.
Fairer skin tones are best suited to honey, mocha, and beige shades with a pink undertone. A red with a blue undertone will also work well. Those with a more medium skin tone should look for rich reds and medium browns between mocha and caramel.
Darker skin tones work well with almost any shade of brown, and more brownish toned plums and reds. If you’re looking for a little more pop with your darker skin, try sheer pink or pink-glossed beige.
Color isn’t the only thing you have to consider. The right shade only goes so far. It might not seem that difficult, but application can be the tricky part. Occasionally you might feel like you’ve got a little more lip than you’d like.
Lips are never really too fat, but you can add a little definition if you’re feeling your lip size is a bit too big. Use a lip pencil just inside your regular lip line.
This can create the illusion of smaller lips. Fill in your lips with the same color as your lip pencil, but stick to darker, matte shades. Glossy colors provide a full look. You can finally dab your lips with a little powder to tone them down a little and give them more of an understated look.
Other women may think their lips are too thin. Or maybe they just prefer hot, luscious looking lips, the kind of lips that draw attention.
If you want to amp up your sex appeal with full-looking lips, apply your lip liner just barely outside your natural lip line. Don’t go completely past your lip line, though, as this can make your lips look artificial and unattractive.
On the very edge of your natural line, your lipstick will give the illusion of fuller lips. Lipstick is applied next, and here you could go a little lighter in shade if you wanted.
The lighter lipstick paired with the lip liner can give a sense of depth to your lips. You’ll want to stay away from matte lipsticks at this point. Stick with frosted or glossy shades. If you want a darker matte color, add a touch of gloss afterwards to give your lips more of a full shine.
