Lip Balm

Lips are one of the most important parts of our outlook. A lady can forget to lock her home but never forgets to put lipstick before going out. The lipstick will not make the lips look good if the lips are chapped or dry.
Lip balm is an ointment that heals the chapped and dry lips. Some people have any illusion that this product is used by ladies only. Even men use lip balms to cure the chapped dry lips and cold sores. Lip balm also adds glow to the lips.
In winters the dry and cold air affects our skin. It draws moisture away from our body. Lips are the first one to be affected by this as the skin of this area is very thin. When we apply lip balm it makes a layer on lips and seals the moisture in our lips. It protects our lips from external exposure.
Petroleum jelly is the most common lip balm. You will be surprised to know that the first lip balm was made of earwax.
Lip balms are easily available. They usually come in little tubes and are applied with finger. These lip balms are available in stick form also and are applied the same way the lipstick is applied.
Homemade Lip Balms
Lip balms can easily be made at home too. The recipe to make homemade lip balm is very simple.
Jojoba Oil Recipe:
Following is the procedure to make jojoba oil lip balm:
a) Melt 2 tsp of beeswax with 2 ¼ tsp of jojoba oil. Stir them to combine.
b) Now remove it from heat and add 6 drops of grapefruit essential oil.
c) Pour it into the container and let it cool for 20 minutes.
Your homemade lip balm is ready.
Lemon Oil Recipe:
Lemon lip balm can also be made at home. The procedure to make lemon balm is:
a) Melt ½ tsp of beeswax.
b) Add a tsp of petroleum jelly into the melted beeswax
c) Add 3 drops of lemon oil.
d) Pour into container.
e) Let the solution cool for 20 minutes.
