A few decisions are involved when one is planning remodeling the design of the kitchen so cooking can be more comfortable in future. While planning your kitchen, here are some tips that should be taken into consideration.
• Choose fitted kitchens that occupy less space and have more space to store things. You can also go for free standing kitchens as they can be moved easily from one place to another.
• The size and type of a kitchen is highly influenced by the number of family members. A single person or two people cook rarely and thus a minimalist kitchen is best, while a large family that uses the kitchen through out the day needs a kitchen which has more moving space, storage space, utensils and other kitchen tools and appliances.
• Seating areas should always be thought about when planning a kitchen. A small breakfast table should be set in a small kitchen while in big ones, a dinning table to serve the whole family. One can also use a part of the dinning or drawing room to make more seating space.
• Setting of the refrigerator is a must, as it takes up most of the standing space. It should never be near the cooking range. The best place for the refrigerator is between the entrance and the cooking area where all the members can access it with ease.
• Choosing a proper kitchen shape is very essential so that one can make movement with ease. An ideal shape is that which gives proper space for the sink, counter for storage, cutting, chopping and cooking area and cabinets. Gallery kitchen, two way galleries, an L-shaped kitchen and U shaped kitchen are the best shaped kitchens.
• Gallery kitchens are long kitchens where the working areas are next to each other and they require a lot of movements.
• Two way gallery kitchens provide storage space below the counters and the cabinets are fixed on the opposite wall which makes the movement easy.
• L shaped kitchens are better than the above two as they provide more work space and storage space. Movement in these kitchens is easy.
• U kitchens have the most work and storage space.
Start your kitchen planning by the placement of the sink and preparation counters. Make place for the refrigerator. Proper points for water, gas and electricity should also be taken into account.
