Indonesia to contribute in online bird flu database

JAKARTA – In a surprising step Indonesia’s health minister Siti Fadilah Supari expressed her approval that she would be willing to share all the statistics regarding bird flu to the world data base. Experts are of the opinion that it will go a long way toward keeping eye on the deadly disease that is threatening to spark a virulent disease.
Indonesia has been preserving the bird flu virus samples and DNA sequencing data from the WHO for more than a year now. It says the worldwide body’s 50 year old virus sharing system is iniquitous to developing countries.
It has made it impracticable for scientists to see if the virus was mutating to a more deadly form. Health Minister of Indonesia Siti Fadilah Supari says she has made certain to assist with the online databank that was launched on Thursday as it is fully transparent and protects logical property rights.
