Improving the way you look

lookbeautyfullEach individual is unique and beautiful in his own way.  Yet most people do not enjoy the way they look.  Even the most beautiful people have a part of themselves that they would change if they could, whether their nose, hair or eyes.  Instead of complaining about the way we look, we should learn to appreciate the way we look.

Missing out: When you feel you don’t look good, focus instead on all the things that you could be missing out on by not attending to what is around you.  Not only are you wasting physical and mental energy, but you also miss opportunities to have fun and meet new people when you have a poor self image.

Personality traits
: When a negative thought about yourself enters your head, think instead of all the people who you admire and look up to. Try to list their personality traits and what it is that you like most about them. This will help you realize that external beauty is not everything.

While external appearance may be one of their attributes, it is not the sole reason for their success.  Similarly, you too have other positive traits that you should focus upon.

Do not think negative: Stop worrying about the way you look or complain about your weight or hair or whatever it is you feel is unattractive about yourself.  The body absorbs any negative reaction and responds to it.

Looking like a supermodel: Do not be fooled by the beauty pageants, television shows, and commercials where people are made to look beautiful and perfect. Their job is to look beautiful and make the public wish that they looked like them. This is a marketing strategy used by many companies, especially those of the cosmetic and fitness industries.

Focus on positives: Concentrate on things you love to do instead of brooding over the negatives. This could be anything, from talking to a friend on the phone to shopping, exercising or taking your dog for a walk.

Fitness
: Take up some form of physical activity like hiking, boating, skiing, or surfing.  It can be any activity.  Your focus should not be weight loss, but fun and a space where you can forget your worries.

Love yourself: The most important thing in life is to love yourself unconditionally.
