How To Wash Motor Bikes
Bike maintenance requires a routine of washing it on a regular basis. Here are some tips on how to wash bikes to make them shine and sparkle. Don’t take your bike to the car wash for a wash, as the high pressure spray they use can force water up the gaskets. Hand washing bikes offers better results, but don’t forget to turn off the fuel tap off before laying down the bike to give it a good wash underneath. Another word of advice, forget using paper towels to wash, dry or wipe off your bike, as they contain small wood chips that can scratch your bike. As well, use car wash solutions instead of harsh detergents to wash your bike, as they can strip the wax and dull the finish on black engines or plastic casings.
Ideally, you should wash and lube your bike once a week, at a minimum. Begin washing your bike with the car washing solution and a sponge to get rid of dirt, grime and pollution, and then give your bike a good rinse with clean water. Clean the bike spokes by wrapping a wide shoelace a couple of times round a spoke and pulling it back and forth to clean it. After the spokes are done, it is time to clean the wrinkle black cases using a toothbrush. Remember to open the brake callipers, so that the wheels are allowed to roll freely while washing the bike. This also helps to get rid of all of the dirt and sand from in between the callipers and the disk.
Once you are done washing your motorbike, it is time to wax and polish and lube the chain. Always use car wax labelled cleaner wax, which is useful in getting rid of pollutants, bugs, etc. Always use soft cloths, such as, chamois or terry towels to dry and polish your motor bike to prevent any scratches to the paint. Make it a habit to wash and polish your bike on a regular basis as a clean bike is the first step to having a well-maintained bike!
