How to Stop Snoring
Snoring is a very common problem that can be very stressful on relationships. The sound of the snoring can cause your partner to lose sleep. The good news is that your snoring doesn’t have to mean you stay single forever. There are things that you can do to make your sleeping a quieter experience.
Get Some Rest
Get plenty of sleep. Studies indicate that people who get 6-8 hours of sleep every night are less likely to snore than people who only get 4-6 hours of rest. Some people snore because they are over tired. One of the ways you cans stop snoring is to take a power nap in the middle of the day, or to spend some time relaxing before you go to bed. Some night time yoga might help you stop snoring.
Change Positions
One of things you can do to stop snoring is to change your sleeping position. Instead of laying flat on your back try sleeping on your side or on your stomach. While it’s easy enough to start sleeping in a new position, staying that way is a little more challenging. One of the most effective ways to make sure you don’t role over onto your back while you sleep is to surround yourself with body pillows. Make sure that the pillows are tucked tightly against your body so they will hold you in place while you sleep.
Live a Healthy Lifestyle
The healthier a person is, the better their chances of eliminating snoring from their nights. Exercise develops your respiratory system and clears it of any excess mucus.
We all know that smoking and drinking can be hard on your overall health, but did you know that it can also make you snore? Try abstaining, especially four or five hours before you go to bed. You should also allow yourself at least three hours between eating and sleeping. If the only time you can eat is right before you go to bed you should avoid eating dairy. Dairy products increase the production of nasal mucus and increase the chances that you will snore.
Inhalers and nasal strips have been effective tools in the crusade to stop snoring.
