How To Read Body Language

By on September 10, 2010

A person’s words play a major part in communicating how he/she is. Not every one knows but a person’s gestures and body language too play a very important role in letting the other person judge what kind of a person he/she is.

The most important part of our body that communicates loudly is our hands. If someone sitting in front of you points at you and speaks, it means he is a dominating person or is trying to hold you responsible for something. Keeping hands crossed while sitting means the person in not receptive. He/she is not open to new ideas and no matter how much you speak, at the end he/she will do what they believed in. On the other hand a person who uses hands a lot while talking means he/she is an active person budding with lots of ideas. They are believed to be good communicators.

The second part of the body is legs. If one shakes his/her leg too often while talking, it means either the person is very nervous or is eagerly waiting for something to happen or someone to arrive. People who shake legs too much are restless people and their mind is mostly not at rest. People sitting with one leg crossing over the knee means they are authoritative people or want to show their upper hand in every thing they do. People sitting with their legs straight and in a normal position means they are open to new ideas and are receptive.

Another feature that communicates a lot is our eyes. If a person maintains continuous eye contact while talking means he/she knows what they are speaking is right. These people are confident and believe firmly in their opinions. A person not looking in the eyes and looks mostly towards the ground or looks here and there means he/she lacks confidence. They also might be hiding something or lying. A person who looks into your eyes but smiles too much or looks with head tilted at one side means he/she is trying to flirt with you and is attracted to you.

It is therefore very important we watch out the way we speak, walk or behave to give the right signs of the way one is. It’s also important to know how to read body language to know more about people one meets.
