June 7, 2008
If, you have a lot earrings lying jumbled together in a jewellery box or worse in a jar or at the bottom of a drawer, why not make a display stand for your earrings. This creative storage option will help keep your earrings together and reduce the number of lost pieces. You won’t need to turn the room upside down to find the perfect accessory when you can see what you have. It’s much easier to keep organized if you have created a simple and easy to use storage system. Simple and easy to make, all you need is a thin sheet of cardboard, markers, crayons, paint, and / or glue and glitter, any decorative tools.
Take the cardboard and fold it in half. Place the cardboard on a flat surface with folded edge facing the ceiling. If, folded evenly in half, it will stand upright on its own. In case it doesn’t stand on its own, then take one of the open sides i.e. the bottom and make another fold about 2 inches wide. Make a small triangle and set it down again with the new fold flat on the hard surface. The highest point of the triangle should point up at the ceiling and the longest flat square face should face you.
Successful in making your earring display, it is time now to decorate it. Use markers, pens, glue and glitter or beads to decorate one or both flat sides of your triangle.
When all decorations are completely dry, take your earrings and push through the cardboard in sets about half an inch apart, and 2 inches between every pair of earrings. Place your earrings in pairs locking in the earring back on the cardboard. When complete, place your earring display stand on your dresser for a cheerful earring display.
Or, you can create a unique jewellery organizer from a picture frame for a functional and stylish storage space for earrings. Modify a picture frame into an earring holder for storing, organizing and displaying your jewellery in an unusual way that not only provides easy access but also looks simply terrific. All you require is a wooden picture frame, mesh screen, staple gun, staples and nails.
Begin by stretching screening against the back of the picture frame and attaching with stapler or nails. Slip earring between the wire mesh. Screws attached to the bottom of the frame can be used to secure necklaces.
