How to Improve your Immune System

The immune system is possibly the most important system in the human body. It literally influences the way we feel. Not only are people with weak immune systems more likely to get sick than people with powerful immune systems, the sickly person is more likely to suffer from severe bouts of depression. Your family’s happiness can literally depend on your immune system.  When you feel good the people around you will feel better and be happier.

We aren’t all born with super strong immune systems. Some of us are simply better equipped to fight of infections and viruses than other people. But there are steps you can take that will improve your immune system.

The Importance of Garlic
Eat lots of garlic. Researchers have found that garlic has a stimulating affect on the immune system. It has been noted that making garlic a regular part of diet stimulates the manufacture of more white blood cells, improves blood flow.  People who regularly consume garlic are less likely to develop several different kinds of cancer. The best way to eat garlic is raw. If you aren’t a big fan of garlicky food, the active ingredient in garlic, freeze dried allicin, the active garlic’s active ingredient, is available at most health food stores. Garlic is the most effective for improving the immune system when it is combined with vitamin C.

Eat Some Citrus
Vitamin C is one of the most effective vitamins when it comes to improving your immune system. The benefits of vitamin C were first discovered in 1700’s when physicians were frantically looking for a way to cure the skin condition, scurvy. Vitamin C is included in most multi-vitamins although most people prefer eating vitamin C rich foods.

Polyunsaturated Vegetable Oils
You should steer clear of foods that contain polyunsaturated vegetable oils. Polyunsaturated vegetable oil is vegetable oils that have high amounts of fatty acids. Our bodies store the fatty acids from the oils in our own fatty tissues.  This leads to weight gain and a slower metabolism. When we get stressed the fatty acids are released into our bodies, forcing our immune system to work even harder.

The best way to improve you immune system is to get plenty of rest. Your body heals itself while you sleep,
